Mr. Alexander Bilmes
Alexander has finished his Diplomarbeit in 2014, in which he verified interaction of Bogoliubov quasiparticles with Two-Level-Systems(TLS) hosted in a Josephson contact of a superconducting qubit. Since Oct2014 he is a PhD student in the group of A. V. Ustinov in KIT, Karlsruhe. Together with J. Lisenfeld he investigates novel designs for superconducting qubits, which enable one to use them as a universal tool to explore properties of TLS in a broad variety of dielectrics. TLS are a severe source of decoherence in quantum circuits and these experiments will give a deeper insight in TLS' nature and help to reduce the impact of TLS on qubit's quality. Alexander is visiting our lab from October to November for six weeks.
