Postdoctoral researchers

After a two-semester peek at computer science while still in high school, Markus decided that physics was the more exciting subject to study. A few years later, he received his Diplom in physics from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany, for theoretical work on geometric phases in charge and...

Yarema Reshitnyk

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Dr.  Yarema Reshitnyk completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo, Canada, in 2008. His research work in his final year project was on low temperature dilatometry, studying phase transitions in crystals. He then went on to complete his PhD at the University of Queensland,...

Postdoctoral Researcher

Matthias completed his PhD thesis in Andreas Wallraff's group at ETH Zurich where he continued to work with us as a PostDoc. In October 2012 Matthias moved on to the new group of Arkady Fedorov at the University of Queensland, Australia  for 6 months. He is now back to Switzerland working as a...

Pascal carried out his PhD in ITHP Jena and KIT in Germany working with flux qubits and superconducting metamaterials. After his graduation he joined SQD lab between July 2013 December 2014 working on various projects including binary-outcome readout, measurement software and others .

After graduating from Kharkiv National University (Ukraine) Volodymyr defended his Ph.D in Superconductivity at the Institute of Low Temperature Physics (ILTPE Kharkiv , Ukraine). During his Ph.D he experimentally studied the magnetic flux dynamics in HTSC using SQUID magnetometry techniques....

Dr Daniel Szombati to the Physics Department. Daniel has joined us from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands where he graduated with his PhD entitled “Superconducting InSb nanowire devices”. Daniel is an explorative scientist aiming to research new technologies by combining fundamental...

Visiting academics

Dr. Bogdan Kochetov graduated with PhD in Physics and Mathematics from Kharkov National University, Ukraine. He specialized at mathematical modeling of various types of physical processes and phenomena in electromagnetics and optics. That included electromagnetic waves excitation, propagation...

Honours students

Mark graduated from UNSW with BSc degree in Computer Science. He got interested in quantum computing with superconducting circuits and decides to persue the honours project in our lab. In 2014 he completed his research project by implementing the qubit quantum tomography protocol.

Simon completed a bachelor’s degree in Physics at UQ and have previously received a Philosophy degree from Murdoch University, in Perth. In 2014 Simon worked for his honours project devoted to characterization of a parametric amplifier. He is now currently finishing his classes to be awarded...

After completing high school in Northern Ireland Jovian returned to Brisbane to study a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics at the University of Queensland. Jovian was awarded the UQ Advantage Summer Research Scholarship through which he joined SQD lab to design, commission and test a new...
